Tango Technique 1
All levels · 50 minutesDevelop body awareness, coordination, musicality, balance, walking, turning, rhythm, and confidence through focused individual exercises.
Full Class Description
The Technique classes are dedicated tango technique sessions designed to develop body awareness, coordination, musicality, and confidence in movement. Rather than focusing on partner work, these classes guide participants through a progressive series of exercises that explore the fundamental elements of tango: walking, turning, rhythm, balance, coordination, and the quality of movement.
These sessions are physically active and engaging, but also provide a wonderful way to release tension and stress. The idea is to create a focused and enjoyable learning experience—a deeper exploration of tango technique that leaves you feeling energized and ready to dance.
Because the classes are physically demanding, each session is 50 minutes long. They are scheduled at the beginning of each day as an opportunity to awaken the body, sharpen your technique, and start the day immersed in tango.
No partner is required—just bring your body and your curiosity.

Intermediate Fundamentals
Intermediate · 90 minutesRefine walking posture, balance, axis, projection, and intention to create movement that is grounded, clear, connected, and expressive.
Full Class Description
This workshop is suitable for dancers who want to refine their fundamentals and develop a deeper technical understanding of how the tango body moves.
We will examine posture, balance, axis, and the organization of the body, focusing on how movement begins and how it is projected through space.
Particular attention will be given to projection and intention—how the dancer initiates movement, communicates direction, and creates a clear connection between intention and action. We will explore how the body can organize itself before the step, allowing movement to become more precise, efficient, and expressive.
Rather than simply practicing steps, the goal is to develop a walk that is grounded, clear, connected, and intentional, giving dancers greater control and freedom while improvising.

Giros — Turns
Intermediate / Advanced · 90 minutesStudy how giros are constructed in open and close embrace, including axes, dissociation, weight transfer, changes of direction, and improvisation.
Full Class Description
This workshop is ideal for dancers who want to deepen their understanding of tango structure, improve the quality and precision of their turns, and gain greater freedom in improvisation.
Rather than treating the giro as a fixed sequence of steps, we will study the underlying principles that make turns work: the organization of the couple, the relationship between the axes, the circular movement of the bodies, and the use of the embrace as a tool for communication and coordination.
We will work on the mechanics of the turn from both roles, exploring how changes in direction, dissociation, weight transfer, and the organization of the legs create different possibilities within the circular structure. Special attention will be given to maintaining clarity and stability while allowing the movement to remain dynamic and adaptable.
The goal is not simply to learn more giros, but to understand how giros are constructed and how the same principles can be applied to create, vary, and improvise turns in social dancing.

Changes of Direction in Turns
Intermediate / Advanced · 90 minutesInterrupt, reverse, and reorganize turns with alterations while maintaining balance, connection, clarity, and musicality.
Full Class Description
The session breaks down technique and structure so dancers can safely add dynamic changes of direction into their social dancing. Exercises progress from simple patterns to more complex combinations, always emphasizing connection and musicality.
Building on the fundamental structure of the giro, Gustavo will examine how the direction of a turn can be interrupted, reversed, and reorganized to create unexpected yet natural transitions.
Participants will explore how alterations modify the traditional sequence of forward, side, and backward movements, opening new possibilities for both partners while maintaining balance, connection, and clarity of lead and follow.
Ideal for dancers who already have a comfortable understanding of turns and want to expand their vocabulary while developing a deeper understanding of how tango movement is constructed.
